DropWatts helps you read your own LADWP bills. This page says what we collect, who handles it, and how to ask us to delete it. Questions go to hello@dropwatts.com.
What you give us
An email address, and a way to sign in: a password, an email link, a passkey such as Face ID, or an optional two-factor code from an authenticator app. The PDF bills you upload. Optional answers about your home, such as cooling or a pool. Appliances you add, including a brand, a model, and at most the last four digits of a serial number. Notes you write, and questions you ask in the app.
Where bills are stored
Bill PDFs are stored in a private Supabase Storage bucket named bill-documents. That bucket is not public. A file can be read only by a signed-in member of the account it belongs to. Parsed figures from the bill, such as usage, charges, and dates, are stored in the same Supabase project, along with your account.
What a model is allowed to see
We pull the text out of the PDF on our server. Names, street addresses, account numbers, email addresses, and phone numbers are removed there. The original PDF is not sent to a model. xAI (Grok) receives the redacted text and turns it into the rows on your dashboard. Those requests are sent with storage turned off at xAI. If Grok does not return a total and a billing period, we put that same redacted text into a new PDF and send that file to Mistral OCR as the fallback.
Questions you ask about your bills are sent to xAI, along with the bill figures needed to answer them, again with storage turned off. If you add an appliance from a photo of its sticker, that image can be sent to xAI, and Mistral OCR is the fallback when the photo cannot be read that way. A brand and model may be looked up on the public ENERGY STAR product list. That lookup does not include your name or your bill.
Who else handles data
Supabase stores the data and handles sign-in. Vercel hosts the website and the app. Open-Meteo provides the weather, using a city location for Los Angeles, not your street address. We do not sell personal information.
Deletion
Email hello@dropwatts.com and ask us to delete your account. We will delete the account data we store, including the bill files.
California
If you live in California, the California Consumer Privacy Act gives you the right to know what personal information we have about you, to delete it, to correct it, and not to be treated differently for asking. We do not sell personal information, and we do not share it for cross-context behavioral advertising. Email hello@dropwatts.com to use these rights. We will need enough detail to find the account.
